The 97th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo will take place in Florence from 7 to 10 January 2020. In the flag that flies in the shot, made by the great photographer reporter Franco Pagetti, “Pitti is like the United Nations of Fashion, where every brand has its very own flag, but also where each one of us can be a flag of ourselves”, says Agostino Poletto, general manager of Pitti Immagine.
Jil Sander will be the guest designer of this edition. For Lucie and Luke Meier, the house’s co-creative directors since April 2017, this news is “both an honor and a completion. We first met in Florence, and never imagined that we would be back here together showing at Pitti Uomo. This opportunity is a truly special one, and we look forward to contributing to the legacy of this city and Pitti Uomo“. However this is not the first time Jil Sander has been to Pitti Uomo. When it was under Raf Simons, the house presented a collection in June 2010.
Stefano Pilati, one of the most influential designers of his generation, will be the Pitti Uomo 97 Special Guest with his independent label “Random Identities”, while the unisex brand Telfar will be the Special Project of the edition. The founder Telfar Clemens, who launched the brand in New York in 2005, will present his concept of fluid fashion with a special event.
Marking its 75th anniversary this year, Brioni has chosen fashion historian Olivier Saillard to curate the presentation of the new autumn-winter 2020 collection in a celebration of the brand’s history, during the first day of the trade show.
